Windows Server 2016 Datacenter (16 cores) OEM is a perpetual licence for 16 cores: you pay for it once and it never expires. It activates by phone, following the instructions in the email, and you download the installation kit from the vendor, at the link we send you.

Windows Server 2016 Datacenter is the operating system for your company's server: shared files, accounts and access rights, centrally installed applications, remote work through Remote Desktop. The licence covers 16 cores. The server is licensed on all its physical cores, with a minimum of 8 per processor and 16 per server, so a server needs at least 16 licensed cores. The Datacenter edition allows unlimited virtual machines on the licensed server. On top of the server, every person or device that connects needs a CAL.

How to activate

  1. Download the installation kit from the link in the email.
  2. Install Windows Server in the edition you bought.
  3. Enter the key and activate by phone, following the instructions in the email.
  4. Keep the licence documents together with the invoice; we'll post you the CoA sticker if you ask for it.

Questions about Windows Server 2016 Datacenter (16 cores) OEM

How many cores do I need to license?

Every physical core in the server, but at least 8 per processor and 16 per server. A server with two 12-core processors means 24 cores, which is twelve 2-core packs.

User CAL or Device CAL?

User CALs when people work from several devices (laptop, phone, a computer at home). Device CALs when several people take turns on the same computer. You can mix both types on the same server.

When will I get the licence?

Within 5 working days of payment, by email (and in your account, if you have one).

What documents do I get?

A tax invoice, made out to the details entered with the order, and the licence’s proof-of-origin documents. Companies also receive the invoice through e-Factura.

What if activation doesn't work?

Write to us or call us, Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00, and we'll help you activate the licence. If the licence itself won't activate, we send you another one or refund its price.

Can I return the licence?

Until you receive it, you can cancel the order. Once delivered, the licence can't be returned: at checkout you asked for delivery before the withdrawal period ends and confirmed that you can no longer withdraw after delivery. If the licence itself won't activate, we replace it or refund its price. The details are in ‘Delivery, payment and returns’.
